Kanata is a great looking true black male with very fine fibre. We hope he will take after his dam, Malinus Ben who at the age of 7 years still held a 21.8 micron count. Kanata has a great black background -his sire is the well known Fibre Works Technicolour.

"He has correct conformation, a good square body, and full legs. Kanata has very uniform fibre; he is covered from head to toe." These are the comments from the judge at the Alpaca Ontario Show 2011 where he placed 2nd out of 11 entries. Kanata's yearling fibre won 1st Place in the Mary-Ann English Spin Off 2013 with a score of 91/100 points. One point less than the Overall Winner of the Black Class.

Kanata started his breeding career in 2012. He bred a dark silver grey who produced a stunning true black female, the other breeding was to a dark rose grey and she produced a beautiful rose grey female. The owner of both dams was very impressed with the crias, and rebred his dams to Kanata again in 2013. Again he was very pleased to have two females, a rose grey and a black.

We too are very pleased with our Kanata crias, from 2014 he sired three males, a silver grey, a medium brown and a true black.

Kanata sired a beautiful true black female, S'mores in 2015. All the females he has bred have been grey.

We already have EPD data for Kanata and he has quite respectable numbers. AFD -1.170, SDAFD -0.412 and %F>30 -4.149. If you are looking for a male to lower your fineness and add uniformity to your fleece this guy will do it. He will even add a bit of staple length.
