His name is perfect for him - Bakwene meaning Smokey Grey in Ojibwe.

This little fellow has surprised us. He was born medium brown with a few wisps of grey around his mouth, tail and toes but you really had to look to see it. When we started halter training him at a few weeks old we took another closer look at his fibre and surprise it was a beautiful smokey grey just a bit lighter than his mom Kit Kat, our first modern grey.

He was a very shy fellow and usually didn't stray far from mom if there were people in the barn, since he has been weaned he loves to come out for visits. Bakwene is very calm and easy to handle.

Bakwene began his breeding career summer of 2023. He bred a silver grey, a bay black and a true black, we are very anxious to see the crias when they arrive summer of 2024.
